A formal affair.

On Sunday, Devonshire Hall students were undertook their first formal event for the college year. We were to all attend a formal Sunday roast lunch, where we would be in the company of our Warden, student president, and other noteworthy members of staff. Before this, a photo would be taken of the entirely of our residence in their formal attire, as a way to capture the wonderful year (or six months) that we would all spend here.

To ensure no one was late for the photo however, our Warden thought it would be a hilarious idea to schedule our practice fire alarm for 8:30am that morning. So after almost everybody had been out the night before, we all stumbled out extremely hungover and disorientated about what the hell was happening. And can I just say, some people came out in a pretty indecent state, which I'm sure they quickly regretted.

However, once we had all shivered in the cold for long enough, we were sent back to ours rooms, to get ready for the photo and lunch.

The photo was a massive ordeal in itself, but we all managed to be present for the three flashes, before they let us loose into the dinning hall. But, as this was a formal occasion, we were given gowns to wear during the proceedings of the meal. Can I just say, so many Harry Potters jokes have never made in such a short space of time. This was such a weird experience for us Australians as we never get to experience something like this within an educational environment.

After our delicious meal, and really awful and cheap wine, we all decided to relax out in the sun, trying to catch some rays and pretend that we were enjoying one of the beautiful spring days like back at home. It was such a fun event though, and I can't wait for Devonshire's next formal event.
