Welcome to my blog! My name is Kate and I am nineteen year old student from Brisbane. About three months ago I received an envelope that I have been anxiously awaiting for....my acceptance letter to study at the University of Leeds in England. This was the main reason for me starting this blog, as I could keep my family and friends updated about my overseas adventures. I also love fashion, beauty, photography and food, so I think this will be a great way for me to share my appreciation for it.
I believe that travel is the only way to broaden your knowledge and experience other culture first hand. I have been studying at university for almost a year and a half, and felt that there had been something missing from this aspect of my life. I believed that this emptiness could be filled by spending a semester abroad.
I have spent more of my life in an education institution than out of one and I would like to think that formal my education has had some hefty value. This knowledge however has only been achieved through the pages of a book. After spending so much time learning through teaching, I feel that I have reached a stage of maturity whereby I want to learn through experiences and do so by travelling around the world, seeing different countries and cultures. The best form of education is one that combines the traditional way of learning with the self-discovery and world awareness that travel brings.
I have had the travel bug since I was little, as I have been fortunate enough to go to so many exotic destinations throughout my 18 short years. Exchange programs allow participants to be immersed within the countries cultures, making them feel like a local in an international destination.
I am beyond excited to begin this next chapter in my life.
